![]() ![]() What this means is that by the time you get a forge-level modpack running in Fabric, modders will have added these systems into their mods or libraries, and you end up with the same performance. Those systems will still need to exist in Fabric, in order to be able to implement features. However, you can't make something out of nothing. Even if that does happen, it would likely require rewrites of major portions of both loaders, which means it would take quite a while before we'd see a working version.Įdit: as a side note, the main reason Fabric runs faster that forge AFAIK is that it's a barebones system, which doesn't provide all of the features that Forge has. The only way I can see us being able to use both platforms together is if the Forge and Fabric teams work together to provide that compatibility themselves. We need to just pick a system and use it, unless we want the community to be split down the middle. On top of that, the reason Sponge works so well is that it uses its own plugin platform, completely separate from the Bukkit API, which was designed specifically with forge compatibility in mind, and the platform still has a multitude of issues.Īttempting to integrate 2 completely different, very complex systems seamlessly is a nightmare, and so far I haven't seen it work. SpongeForge is the best I've seen yet, but even still, there's a huge list of mods and plugins that are incompatible with Sponge. We've seen mamy attempts to provide compatibility between plugins and Forge for years, and we still don't have a working, reliable system. Projects that attempt to provide compatibility between multiple modded minecraft systems never work that well.
